Manx Harrier Ollie Lockley receives David Teece Trophy of Excellence

Two of Manx Harriers’ best athletes were honoured with special awards during last weekend’s Isle of Man Track & Field Championships held at the NSC in Douglas.

Ollie Lockley received the David Teece Trophy of Excellence, which is awarded annually in memory of one of the island’s greatest athletes who passed away in 2008 at the tragically young age of 40. The trophy recognises an athlete whose performances have been consistently outstanding over the previous year, and was presented to Ollie by David’s mum Carol Quirk.

teece awardOllie has been based in Missouri since last autumn where he has competed regularly in the highly competitive US Collegiate system. In the early part of this year he has been in magnificent form, setting personal best times of 14.29.11 for 5,000 metres and 29.41.88 for 10,000 metres.

Many congratulations to Ollie for this richly-deserved award.
