Two of Manx Harriers’ best athletes were honoured with special awards during last weekend’s Isle of Man Track & Field Championships held at the NSC in Douglas.
The first was Alan Corlett who received the inaugural Zurich Trophy, which recognises an athlete who consistently demonstrates the characteristics and attributes needed to succeed in athletics beyond mere talent. Everyone involved in local athletics agrees that Alan, as well as being exceptionally hard working and ambitious, sets the perfect example to athletes of all ages and all standards in his approach to the sport.
Friendly, encouraging and the ultimate team player, Alan’s successes so far in a relatively short time in the sport include one gold medal and two bronze medals in the Island Games. He has also twice been selected to represent Lancashire in the Inter Counties Cross Country Championships.
Many congratulations to Alan for this well-deserved award.
