The Isle of Man YDL Committee will shortly be doing the selections for the first YDL match which takes place Saturday 27 April 2019, for some of you this will be your first time up for selection since moving up to under 13’s and others the opportunity to compete for Team IOM again. To assist summarised below is a bit of background on what the YDL League is all about.
A composite team made up of members from Manx Harriers, Northern and Western AC known as IOM Team Youth are selected to take part in the Youth Development League in the UK. We first competed in 2013, starting in the lowest division in the North West of England however, the team has had tremendous success over the years been promoted to North West Division One which overs competition against high-class oppositions. The dates for this year’s matches are 27 April, 18 May, 22 June and 20 July.

In order to be considered for selection you must be or demonstrate the following:-
- Be an U13 and U15 athlete
- Be a fully paid up member of a club
- Attend regularly at their club training sessions, open meetings
- Be willing to compete in a number of disciplines if requested to do so.
Kindly note that Athletes may be selected for their perceived potential and selection will not necessarily be based on an athlete’s current performances.
Athlete/parents will be expected to respond promptly to all communications.
Each trip will be a day trip, travelling out by plane, and returning by sea and the cost will be approx. £40 per athlete per trip (subject to change)

This is an excellent opportunity for our Under 13’s and Under 15’s athletes to experience off Island competitions against high class oppositions, they have a relaxed atmosphere and are really great fun.
